How Much Do Veneers Cost on Average?

Are you wondering how much do veneers cost? If yes, you should check out our simple guide here on the prices you can expect.

Believe it or not, smiling can actually make you feel happier. More specifically, it releases endorphins, natural chemicals that can elevate your mood.

Despite that, many people don’t like smiling. As it is, there are many reasons for that. For example, they might be unhappy with how their teeth look.

The good news is that there are ways to improve the appearance of your teeth—dental veneers being one of them.

What are they? Are they expensive? How much do veneers cost? Find out by reading the rest of this post!

What Are Dental Veneers?

Dental veneers are thin shells that are used to improve the appearance of teeth. Cemented to the front surfaces, they can be used to treat discolored, chipped, or broken teeth.

Not only that, but you can use them to change the size or shape of your teeth. That way, you'll have a more even, symmetrical smile.

Materials Used for Veneers

There are two main types of dental veneers—composite veneers and porcelain veneers. While both can improve your smile, they do have their differences.

Composite Veneers

Composite veneers, also known as nonprep veneers, are made from a resin composite material. Sculpted directly on your natural teeth, they require minimal prep. In fact, you can get them done in a single day.

They do have their drawbacks, though. For one thing, they’re not as strong as porcelain veneers. As a result, they typically have a shorter lifespan.

Porcelain Veneers

Porcelain veneers are custom-made for your teeth in an offsite lab. Crafted out of porcelain, they have a translucent appearance, which gives them a natural look.

Highly durable, they can last upward of 10 years, as long as you care for them properly.

Keep in mind, however, that the process is not reversible. This has to do with the fact that a part of your enamel must be removed for the veneer to bond to your teeth.

How Much Do Veneers Cost?

Dental veneers are usually considered to be a cosmetic procedure. In other words, they're usually not covered by insurance.

Generally speaking, you can expect to pay between $1,000 to $2,500 per tooth for traditional porcelain veneers.

As for composite veneers, they're slightly cheaper at around $800 to $2,000 per tooth. Keep in mind, however, that they do have a shorter lifespan (around 5-7 years).

Given that, traditional veneers are still the most cost-effective choice.

Taking Care of Your Veneers

Avoid chewing with your front teeth; use your back teeth instead. Consider cutting up hard foods if necessary.

For those who play sports, it’s highly recommended that you wear a mouthguard.

Similarly, you want to get a retainer to protect your veneers if you tend to clench or grind your teeth at night.

Understanding Veneers

Now you know the answer to, "how much do veneers cost". While they might not be the cheapest, most would argue that they're worth it!
